Glenn Nelson
Glenn Nelson, How do you know you are an artist? It’s not how much you paint. But how much time you spend thinking about painting. With me that’s all the time.
Realist Style
I’m a realist painter. I paint smooth with thin layers of oil paint and glazes. Most of my paintings have as many as five layers of protection on the canvas before the painting begins. Two layers of topcoat. Eight to twelve layers in all.
Commissions Welcomed
I prefer commissions. And love portraits, flowers, landscapes, you name it. New subjects and commissions excite me. Restoration of old oil painting and photographs have been a specialty of mine, also painting reproductions of old masters had been both fun and education for me.
Information
I use photos most of the time, It fits my busy life style. I prefer to take my own photos, but often use other photos that are e-mailed to me from customers. Support most often used is canvas and board, this depends on the subject being painted and the medium
( oil, acrylic, pastel, or colored pencil ) used. Also I paint small or large works of art.
What about me?
I moved to Greenville NC from Tuscaloosa Alabama in 1971. I teach oil painting
( Secrets to a more realistic painting ) with Pitt Community Collage in Greenville NC. Volunteering at the senior center for years, instructing acrylics painting.
Also I offer private classes in my studio. Senior projects for students in the schools.
I am a member of Brushstrokes of Greenville, Portrait Society of America, my own
group of The Palette Painters.
My newest project has been producing a weekly TV program called ( Nelson Art Studio ) an educational how to paint program for all ages and skill levels. This is on GPAT TV channel 23. Cable only. Time Thursday 10:00 AM, and 10:00 PM.
When I’m not painting, I enjoy teaching others the secrets to improve and grow.
